ISOMEDIA NEW VIDEO

Encoding & Authoring

Isomedia also offers Encoding and Authoring to create your DVD-5 or DVD-9 masters. You have invested money and time in your video project; please do not try to use consumer type software to do your own mastering. We have seen over the last few years that most of self-made DVD masters we are given to work with do not meet the industry standards currently in use. If you are not familiar with such processes as Rendering, Sound Channel, Synchronization and Layer Break, we strongly advise against trying to do these things yourself.

Our service cost will be $ 350.00 for DVD 5 and $ 550.00 for DVD 9 which includes a check disk for verification. Also, one minor change is allowed after verification. However, each additional modification will cost $ 100.00. We can work with all your source materials even your portable computer drive.

There are a few things that we want to emphasize regarding the Licensed manufacturer and so-called non-licensed outfit. If a factory is licensed, it indicates that this factory actually manufactures, because every factory operates in the U.S must go through licensing and certification process which are required by law. if a company or identity does not tell you it is licensed, it means that it either outsources your project to other places or just duplicate or burn from CD-R or DVD-R blank media . We will have another special topic on the difference of burned blanks and manufactured CD and DVD.

My advice for our consumers is very simple and clear. In general, all the factories are located in the large industrial cities of East and West Coast. If you conduct your business over the internet or phones. Please look for a few warning signals to tell if your project actually goes to a genuine factory. First, the factory must declare that it is licensed or certified. Second, listen to its sales representative promise you how many days your project will be finished.Usually, for a standard job, five business day is sufficient to complete after your final approval of your artwork unless it is complicated job involves manual packaging which needs one or two extra days. If it is 10 business day, you know your project is outsourced somewhere in the U.S. If it is more than 10 business days, it must go to another country. For custom manufacturing, extensive attention in detail is imperative.Production supervison and quality control must be strictly enforced to insure the quality. Yes, there are a lot of manufacturing jobs are exported to overseas in term of cost. However, these products are general standard which can only be differenciated by brand. Your CD and DVD are content specific and tailored to your need so that none of the project is identical. Then, the quality issue and control are more complicated than a tire or bumper of a car.

Another important issue is the safety of the product. If a shipload of tires come in from overseas, our custom and relevant government agencies will check and test its safety. however, a few boxes of CDs and DVDs will not attract that much attention. In U.S, the inks and chemicals are under strict security of the government and also are made by large and reputable corporations.however, overseas' manufacturers for certain , must use generic or substitute materials which are not checked or tested by our standard. I guess that you already know the consequence.
Well, the last and most important subject is the cost. A genuine factory will not offer you higher cost. Here is the simple reason. Even overseas cost is low, but the shipping and broker's profit are added. The final price is almost same as U.S manufacturer, but broker's price is still slightly higher. If a broker outfit tells you that they can beat manufacturer's prices, there are only one of the two outcome. Remember the famous Madoff case, the scam goes two ways, either consumer is cheated or the outsourced manufacturer must be burned. In plain language, eventually, the account book can not be balanced and bills can not be payed. Either you did not get your product, money is not returned or you got your product this time, the actual factory made your product will not be paid.

Quality Guarantee

CD and DVD production process are very similar and we will introduce a few key features of the process so that all the customers or non-technical people will understand.

The process includes Master Scanning, Glass mastering, Injection Molding, sputtering, inline inspection and off line testing. After all these steps, a CD or DVD Disc is completely done. The World Class Molding machines are Nestall for CD, and Sumitomo for DVD, Sputtering is Singulus Technology for both CDs and DVD. Inline Inspection is Dr Shenk scanner checking the physical aspects of CD and DVD, offline inspection is Eclipse Suite and Audio Development that verify the format and electrical signal of the disc. All the CD and DVD equipment must be maintained in perfect condition in order to assure the quality of the CD or DVD disc. If part of the process malfunctions, it will result physical and electrical defect and affect the disc’s playability. The most efficient and state of the art equipment for CD and DVD are made by those mentioned above and its equipment already completed third phase of improvement. Other equipment providers exited the market after the first or second phase. There is still 30% of the equipment operating in the U.S without service and support. Our plant has on-site technician and regular scheduled services with equipment providers.

Isomedia staff take all the possible steps to insure quality production of the Disc from receiving of your materials to shipping of your product. The first guarantee to you is that Isomedia is a Philips and Sony licensed plant that we follow all the Federal and State regulations . U.S is the most restrictive and compliant nation in terms of Safety and Consumer rights. The most important components used of manufacturing CD and DVD are Polycarbonate Resin, Print Ink and Chemicals which must meet the Federal Standard in order to be sold in U.S market. All these components are made through reputable companies, generic, imitation, off-grade and poison-contaminated materials are strictly prohibited.
We will explain our QC standard from a non-technical aspect so that you can comprehend in an ordinary way. Everybody must have had an experience to play a CD or watch a DVD video. When you holds a disc and look at the data side, if you see cloudy marks, spots or feel the edge of disc is not even and almost can cut your finger, all these are injection molding flaws. The mold frame worn-out causes the disc edge uneven and also control valve pressure is incorrect will result the same problem. If these types of discs play in your computer or drives, the strong noise is generated, because the disc does not spin properly inside your drive. The black or white spot on the disc indicates the contamination of the Polycarbonate or it is off-grade material that the melting and cooling specification does not meet the technical requirement of disc manufacturing. Your data or music will not be recorded at these spots.
Even you have a clean and shiny disc, it will still need the electrical test to determine the quality of the disc. Sometimes, when you play an audio disc that works on your computer, but it will not play on your Walkman. In most of the cases, the cause will be the electric signal in the borderline so that some players will accept and some not, because the players’ default setting among manufacturers differ in +/-5% range. If the default standard is on the plus side, it will disqualify your disc. It is the similar phenomena with your DVD disc which freezes or hesitate on one drive, but it works fine on others.

The Isomedia production team strictly follows testing procedures, so that our return rate is Zero. Many Federal and State agencies used our products and services , as well as large corporations. Symantec, the second largest software publisher appointed Isomedia its manufacturing plant in North America . Here is the link listing on Symantec Webpage. This is the indicator of our quality level and integrity.

Philips License

CD and DVD manufacturing technologies jointly invented by Philips and Sony with its partners. All the CD and DVD plants must pay the licensing fee and certified in order to manufacture CD and DVD disc. It is mandatory by U.S Patent Law and Federal Regulation that any operating CD and DVD plants must be licensed or certified by Philips and Sony in the U.S. The Current rate for CDs is $ 0.02 per disc, DVD is $ 0.0375 per disc.

what it means to consumers ? what is the benefit ?

The implication to consumers is very clear, by licensing, it protects the intellectual property right of inventors, also informs the consumers that they are dealing with a responsible and qualified plant.

All of us concern two things ,the most important , quality and prices, of course, Isomedia’s prices are very competitive. The U.S is the leading nation that set up the highest standard to secure the safety and health of its consumers. The most important components used of manufacturing CD and DVD are Polycarbonate Resin ,Print Ink and Chemicals which must meet the Federal Standard in order to be sold in U.S. market. All these components are made through patented technologies and reputable companies, and generic, imitation, and off-grade, poison-contaminated materials are strictly prohibitive. If you hold a disc which the origin and manufacturer are unknown, it really raise a big question mark on safety and quality. If you give CD and DVD projects to a company that can not manage and supervise the production, you know the quality is up on the air. There are many possibilities could happen to your projects or products. First, they have to outsource your project to a real plant which may be located in Mexico or Asia which uses older generation equipment and off standard material. Your quality is up to the mercy of the plant. Furthermore, you must be extremely careful if the non-licensed company claims they can beat or match all competitors’ prices. Then, you know that it is a warning sign indicating fishy things going on. The most important issue is the Patent Fee has been escaped, because there are still a lot of countries that do not respect Patent Law and Intellectual Property in world. There is no guarantee of non-hazardious materials used to manufacture your products. If it is not certain that you are dealing with a plant, please do not turn in your projects for a few pennies less. Also, some of our current customers used Brokers before, they all had unpleasant experience. Even the current project is in a satisfactory level, there is potential issues later. For Example, either the master or the artworks can not be found later on when they need it, or they need to re-order it a year later, the materials can not be found. The worst case is the phone has been disconnected. Of course, there are various quality issues which we explained on our page on quality.
